As I grow older (I'm not sure I'm old enough to be alowled to say that yet!) I am finding it harder to genuinely dislike books. One thing that studying English gave me was the ability to find some angle from which a book could be interesting, if not enjoyable. But there are bad books out there. I've read (and reviewed) books for which I've struggled to find a single positive thing to say about them however hard I tried (I don't want to be a cynical, ranting book-hater!), and I don't think you could convince me that in those cases merely being the wrong audience could explain it away. Luckily not too many of those come my way, but they are out there and they do get published and I will never understand why.
